Artesian Wells Garage & Wrecker Service LLC
Wrecked, stalled, or stranded on a back road at 2 a.m.? Our family-run wrecker crew is on call around the clock.

Online requests work best for scheduled tows. If you are on the roadside right now, call.
Emergency Towing When You Need It Most
It is a quarter past five on a November evening, the light is going flat over the fields along Cement City Road, and a doe steps out of the tree line before your foot even reaches the brake. The headlight is gone, the radiator is weeping onto the gravel shoulder, and the car is not going anywhere tonight. That is usually the moment people find our number.
Artesian Wells Garage & Wrecker Service has been answering those calls since 1931. We run light and medium duty wreckers 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and because we are a working repair garage too, your car can come straight into our shop instead of sitting in a storage lot while someone decides what happens next.
Why Fall Keeps Our Wreckers on the Road
Deer are the biggest reason our phone rings after dark from October through December. Jackson County logged 1,557 vehicle-deer crashes in 2024, the third most of any county in Michigan, and Lenawee County added another 855. The village sits right on the line between the two counties, so we get calls from both.
The worst hours are dawn and dusk, and the worst roads are the two-lane stretches where fields meet woodlots and lake edges. If you drive US-12 or the back roads toward Brooklyn on a fall evening, slow down, use your high beams when you can, and remember that one deer usually means two or three more.
Don’t swerve. Brake hard, stay in your lane, and let us handle what comes after.
What Should You Do While You Wait?
While you wait for a tow, get yourself and your passengers out of traffic, turn on your hazards, and call 911 first if anyone is hurt or the road is blocked. Then call us with your location, your vehicle, and where you want it to go.
- Get out of the travel lane if you can. Even a few feet onto the shoulder helps. On narrow roads with deep ditches, staying buckled inside the car is often safer than standing beside it.
- Pin down exactly where you are. The nearest crossroad, a spot on US-12, or a dropped pin from your phone gets a truck to you faster.
- Take photos if it is safe. Your insurance company may ask for photos of the scene and damage.
- Decide where the car should go. Our shop, your mechanic, your driveway, or a body shop. Knowing up front saves a second trip.
If the car simply will not start or has a flat, you may not need a tow at all. Our roadside assistance for jump starts, lockouts, fuel delivery, and flat tires may be able to get you moving right where you are.
The Tows We Handle
Whether your vehicle is disabled after a crash, will not start, or needs to be moved to a repair shop, our team provides light and medium duty towing throughout Lenawee County and surrounding communities.
Accident Scene Towing
We clear wrecks for drivers and local law enforcement, including authorized police tows. If the vehicle has left the roadway, overturned, or needs to be repositioned before towing, our vehicle recovery service can handle the recovery first. We also work directly with insurance companies, so you are not left coordinating everything yourself after a rough day.
Breakdown Towing
A transmission that quits on the way to work, an engine overheating in July lake traffic, or a check engine light that turns into a knock can leave you stranded. We can tow your vehicle to our own garage for a free repair estimate or to another destination you choose.
Light Duty Towing
Cars, minivans, SUVs, and pickups can be loaded and transported safely when they cannot continue under their own power.
Medium Duty Towing
Our wreckers are also equipped for medium duty towing when a larger vehicle needs roadside assistance or transport.
How Much Does Emergency Towing Cost?
An emergency tow is usually priced as a hook-up fee plus a per-mile charge, with the total depending on distance, time of day, and whether the vehicle needs extra work at a crash scene.
Ask for the price when you call. An honest tow company should be able to quote the hook-up and mileage before a truck leaves the yard. If your car comes into our shop, the repair estimate is free. Many auto policies and roadside plans reimburse part or all of a tow, so check yours.
One honest warning: unless police have ordered the tow, you choose who hauls your car. If a truck you never called shows up at a crash scene, ask who sent them. If the answer is nobody, call the company you trust.
Neighbors Have Called the Same Garage Since 1931
A shop does not stay open for more than ninety years in a village of about 400 people on advertising alone. It lasts because the same families in Woodstock and Columbia townships keep calling back, and because local law enforcement trusts us with police towing.
Good Work Wins Good Will. That’s the motto we live by.

Emergency Towing FAQs
Do you really tow in the middle of the night?
Yes, we tow 24 hours a day, seven days a week, overnight and weekends included. A 3 a.m. breakdown on a dark county road is exactly what the service exists for.
Can you tow my car to a shop other than yours?
Yes. We will tow your vehicle to any repair shop, dealership, body shop, or home address you choose. Our own garage is an option, with free repair estimates, but it is never a condition of the tow.
Will you work with my insurance company after an accident?
Yes. We work directly with insurance companies and local law enforcement after accidents. Keep your policy information handy when our truck arrives so the claim can get started from the scene.
How far will you tow from the Cement City area?
We tow throughout Lenawee County and beyond, including into Jackson and Hillsdale counties. For longer hauls, give us the destination when you call so we can quote the mileage up front.
What should I have ready when I call for a tow?
Have your exact location, the year, make, and model of the vehicle, and where you want it taken ready when you call. Also tell us whether the car rolls, whether you have the keys, and whether it is all-wheel drive or lowered, since that affects how it gets loaded.
